How we research
Short version: official sources first, every fact checked by a person, everything dated, and corrections welcome.
Where the facts come from
- Hours, fees, closures and visitor info come from the park itself, usually the National Park Service. Each guide shows the date we last checked.
- History comes from the park, the American Battlefield Trust and published histories. Sources are listed at the bottom of every guide.
- Weather alerts on battlefield pages come live from the National Weather Service.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to help gather research and write first drafts. Then Harry reads every page, checks the facts against the sources, and rewrites what needs it. Nothing goes up that a person hasn't checked.
Photos
We never use AI-generated images of real places. Photos are either ours, public domain (like the National Park Service and the Library of Congress), or used under a license that lets us, and every one is credited.
Mistakes
Parks change hours, close roads and fix up buildings. If something here is wrong or out of date, let us know. We fix it and note the change.
